I just read an edited version on “Understandably”. It is beautifully written and goosebump-raising. I believe I would have done as you did. Sometimes there are no answers and sometimes no answer is it’s own decision. Thank you for writing what you did.
I’ve never been a caregiver per se, but as a breadwinner and provider for my own family, I find your question difficult to answer.
I like to think that I would do whatever it takes in such a situation, but can we ever KNOW that until the time comes? I too am an organ donor but that is an “after death” commitment that has no consequences for my life. As a follower of Christ I have to ask myself WWJD (what would Jesus do)? Of course He would reach out and touch someone and they would be healed. I might be able, through the power of His Holy Spirit in me, to do the same thing... but whatever the case, He gave His LIFE for me. Can I,, should I do any less? Jesus said “greater love has no man than he lay down his life for another.
I'm a caregiver to my husband who is in end stage renal failure. I was evaluated to do a paired donation on his behalf. In the end, he wouldn't let me go through with it as we have an adult son with special need who also needs me. I believe my husband is right but I'm still so conflicted. These are such difficult choices.
I am so sorry ~ for his health and your turmoil also. So very difficult, and I appreciate that you shared your story. It really does help others understand that we are all in this together and never alone.
Yes, I am testing my own comment field due to some apparent issues. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have glitches also so I can address them. Thank you!
What a thought provoking and personal piece of writing, Lisa. I need to make reading your stories a priority. Now that I’ve subscribed I’m sure to keep up with your extraordinary narratives and musings. ❤️

May it be so, Lord, may it be so!

Thank you Woody ~ I believe in handing over those decisions to Him and following His plan :)

Great read, great question also. Who could answer that question until you’re put in that situation. I miss you, look forward to your next story.
